Let’s assume that you do not want to use the Slack app, but you want to receive chat notifications from Slack whenever someone sends you a message. If you use the website in Edge browser, you get the notification on your desktop. However, at times, these notifications might distract you from your important or urgent work. Although you can use Focus Assist, it is better to use the Registry and Group Policy method to disable notifications from Edge only.
Turn off website pop-up push notifications in Edge using Registry
To turn off Microsoft Edge desktop push notifications using Registry Editor, follow these steps- Don’t forget to backup your Registry files before heading to the steps. At first, you have to open the Registry Editor on your computer. For that, you can use the Taskbar search box. To get started, search for regedit in the Taskbar search box, and click on the respective result. The UAC prompt might appear. If so, select the Yes option. Then, navigate to the following path- Right-click on Microsoft, select New > Key, and name it Edge. Then, right-click on Edge, select New > Key, and name it as NotificationsBlockedForUrls.
Next, right-click on NotificationsBlockedForUrls, select New > String Value, and name it as 1.
After that, double-click on 1 to set the value data as the website URL.
In case you want to stop receiving push notifications from multiple sites, name the subsequent String Values in numerical order (2, 3, 4, and so on). The same thing can be done via the Local Group Policy Editor. However, it is required to download Group Policy Templates for Microsoft Edge. Otherwise, you cannot follow this tutorial.
Disable Edge desktop push notifications using Group Policy
To turn off Microsoft Edge desktop push notifications using Group Policy, follow these steps- Let’s check out the detailed versions of these steps. To get started, you have to open the Local Group Policy Editor on your computer. For that, press Win+R to show the Run prompt, type gpedit.msc, and hit the Enter button.
